Manchester, United Kingdom Streetwise Opera is an award-winning charity that uses music to help homeless people make positive changes in their lives. I was lucky to be part of something that changes people’s lives through music, at a time when numbers of homeless people in Manchester are higher than ever.

    • Director of Handel's Opera 'Acis & Galatea'
      • Nov 2014 - Jan 2015

Manchester, United Kingdom I interviewed to be the director of Handel’s Acis and Galatea and was successful in getting the role. During rehearsals I had to consider the vocal health of singers to ensure they would be healthy for the performances. I liaised with the Musical Director about the vision of the opera and considered how the music and drama would intertwine. The vision I devised used physical and immersive theatre and choreography. During rehearsals I had to consider the vocal health of singers to ensure they would be healthy for the performances. I liaised with the Musical Director about the vision of the opera and considered how the music and drama would intertwine. The vision I devised used physical and immersive theatre and choreography. I worked with cast and chorus members to release their inhibitions on these aspects. I blocked the opera in 3 weeks and shaped and honed the performances of the cast. The opera was performed twice and it was a successful production. Show less

    • Director 'The Mikado'
      • Sep 2013 - Mar 2014

Manchester This was my first major role as a director in which I managed and led a team of around 70 people. As well as blocking the show, I coached the singers in their musical performances which improved their sound considerably. It was rewarding to see the finished result after the hours of hard work put in to make it a success.
