Bio
Meridith Hatch, MBA
Melissa and I worked together on a social media brand awareness campaign. She learned quickly and brought great insight and skill to our digital comms. Melissa rolled with everything that was thrown her way -- with style. Wish we could keep her longer. When she's done with her degree I highly recommend hiring her -- she's a fantastic addition to any team!
DJ Crisostomo
My name is DJ Crisostomo and I am writing on behalf of Melissa Atienza. As I would learn over time – there is so much more to Melissa than just her academics. To be clear, Melissa is a stellar scholar and always put her studies first. But, aside from her academic prowess, I am continually impressed by her maturity and sense of responsibility. To begin with, I believe it is important to note that Melissa is a military dependent. Relating to her maturity, she has shared with me her perspective on life. Because she has travelled the world from an early age, she has gained a healthy world perspective. In addition to what I have observed from her experiences, she does not consume herself with petty issues. Rather, she focuses on ways to improve her well-being as well as enhance the surroundings for others. In regards to her sense of responsibility, one example connecting to her college major comes to mind. Melissa told me that last year an upperclassman wanted her to pursue very specific social circles and cliques, in order to pursue job opportunities and higher social status. Melissa, being headstrong and responsible, resisted and even challenged the conventional wisdom of her counterpart. As a result, Melissa formed her own community and support system. She got involved with academic programs and student organizations that appreciated her for the person she is and accepted her. Since then, Melissa has grown in ways to influence other students. More importantly, she finds ways to convey the importance of being true to oneself. From her heavy involvement with our Asian Pacific Islander Student Union or to offering other college students career advice as a Career Prep Consultant, Melissa never waivers in the face of peer pressure or the masses. Rather, she maintains an integrity and always questions what she is doing, for whom she is doing it for, and ultimately why she does it. She has a healthy skepticism and always places emphasis on her values and morals. In closing, Melissa Atienza is a worthy candidate for whatever position she aims for. She supports the efforts of her peers in countless ways because she knows the importance of taking care of and staying true to herself.
