My term started with the onset of COVID-19 and since then I have been a champion for provider wellness and resilience. My most recent endeavor is the creation of a hospital-based “Resilience and Wellness” initiative of which the goals are to mitigate provider burnout and stop moral injury, while promoting a culture of compassion and building resilience. This subcommittee is responsible for promoting awareness around provider and team wellness, promoting team engagement, and committed to investing in strategies to create a more meaningful practice environment for all team members by improving resilience, wellness, compassion and professional fulfillment, and decreasing burnout and moral injury. Our team responded to the approach of COVID-19, by quickly adapting and shifting focus to reprioritize the needs of the member of the team during a crisis. Creating and compiling mental health and other resources to address fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. We also launched a series called Mindful Moments series, which encourages leaders to engage their teams in brief activities to improve mental health and build resilience.
