I covered the changing Jewish community: trends in demographics, religion & spirituality and philanthropy. I was hired during a time of transition for JTA and the Jewish community as communal concerns shifted from outward-facing (i.e. the status of Israel in the international community) to inward-facing, in terms of intermarriage and assimilation.While covering a new set of issues that had not before been addressed, I routinely broke news. I also wrote the first stories ever published on rabbinical sexual abuse, a 5-part series which won a Rockower Award. I was awarded several other Rockowers during my tenure at JTA. Show less
