Leonardo was a senior peer during my internship and was consistently a bedrock for providing guidance on how to advance my project. Clearly respected by our peers, his calm, well-reasoned approach to scientific discussion was a model to me of how to influence without authority. For this reason, I always look for someone like Leonardo when I need a technical advisor as a litmus test, and consider myself fortunate to have met him early on in my career.

As part of our R&D group Leonardo has reported to me for the last 4 years. In this time he has built and commissioned a one-off high-end etching facility for cleaning our polycrystalline silicon, which is absolutely critical for our whole production. Leonardo was selected for the task for his wide and at the same time very deep knowledge of process chemistry and materials as well as his ability to learn new specialties very fast. Leonardo has independently run the project with a full range of the obstacles that real life throws at project managers, so we today have a state-of-the art facility fully qualified by tier one customers. Leonardo has a comprehensive understanding of analytical techniques for finding traces of almost anything, which has been part of his responsibilities and been widely used. From a personal point of view, Leonardo has the rare ability to adapt vast amounts new knowledge at an amazing pace, but still with a very high precision and certainty. He has worked in many parts of the world and is truly international, speaking 4 languages fluently, enabling him to seamlessly work in many cultural contexts.
