Ara and I work on the same grant, ¡ESO!. Her graphic design portfolio speaks for itself; I will say that her design aesthetic always wows the team. What I find most valuable is her mentorship. Ara's work with students as a mentor with PUENTE has been tremendous. She has created a safe space in her office where students share intimate details of their lives that affect their education attainment. Ara's advice and high expectations for her mentees let them know how much she cares and how capable they truly are. Ara's future is so bright. Connecting with students via creativity is critical, particularly with our students of color. I'm excited for her next move.

I have gotten the pleasure to work with Araceli during the Undocumented Student Week of Action at Cañada College. Immediately, I noticed her creativity and artistic skills shine through. We worked on a Collaborative Art Project Mural, where students shared ideas on what they wanted to be on the mural. Araceli took all their designs and ideas and stenciled a beautiful mural that captured every student’s idea. I was impressed on how quickly she was able to design it. Students were able to paint, and add on to it, and it turned out beautiful. I don’t think the collaborative art project would have happened without Araceli’s skills.
