Herencia Guadalupana, a nonprofit organization founded in 2014, recruits and educates preschoolers in poverty who do not have access to quality education. Our research-based approach to educating preschoolers in poverty is unique and nurtures perseverance, resilience, goal-focus, and self-regulation while emphasizing cognitive growth. These are the threads that provide a high quality learning experience for preschoolers in poverty that facilitates their development, and social and economic contributions to society.Herencia participates in the Quality First program, a voluntary coaching and rating system for childcare centers sponsored by the state organization First Things First. Herencia is also a designated training site for Child and Family Resources and conducts professional development workshops to educate and support childcare providers in the surrounding community.
