      A seasonal government internship to monitor and actively conserve the marine turtle nesting population: Over three seasons (2012, 2015, 2016), role included: Research:-Monitoring of nesting ecology via four daytime beach surveys per week; locating new nests and excavating hatched nests to collect reproductive output data. -In-water capture surveys to monitor foraging population numbers and health. -Night-time beach light monitoring surveys to generate a qualitative and recent measure of development on turtle nesting beaches to use in further risk analysis.-Monitoring of a nesting population via nightly beach surveys; recording individual turtle nesting behaviour, applying tags for later identification and clutch assignation.-Survey effort recording to quantify and optimise time investment. Conservation: -Active monitoring and risk mitigation of at-risk (threatened from beach lighting, inundation, poaching) nests and individual nesting turtles.-Coordination with Enforcement team to prevent and reduce poaching per seasons. Project management:-Project managed the 2016 night surveys for individual nesters; increasing data coverage to 50.3% of all nests (compared to previous high of 21.7% of 2015 season). -Co-managed the 2012 hatching season; generating work schedules for the beach surveys, liaising with beach property owners to reduce risk from beach lighting, and releasing rescued turtle hatchlings.
