The NOCCA Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that provides support and advocacy for the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), Louisiana's arts conservatory for high school students. With assistance from corporations, foundations, and individuals across Louisiana and around the globe, the Foundation has helped turn NOCCA into a flagship educational facility for young artists. As Director of Communications & Public Programs, my responsibilities include: participating as a senior staff member on strategic, business, and other planning processes; leading all marketing and public relations activities; oversight of daily operations, staff, and programming in public-facing, revenue-generating ventures; planning and producing a professional concert series and related outreach events; planning and producing an ongoing series of arts classes for adult learners; web and graphic design; social media planning and outreach; grantwriting and grant maintenance; and technology strategy and management. The Graduate Program in Arts Administration at the University of New Orleans prepares students for administrative careers within arts organizations, including galleries, museums, concert halls, opera companies, theaters, dance ensembles, auction houses, film societies, festivals, municipal art programs, arts education programs, and community art centers. The curriculum offers elective courses in nonprofit management, business, and the arts, plus required specialized arts administration courses, including development and arts law. The program culminates in a 480-hour internship giving students practical experience in the field. I currently teach four courses for the Arts Administration program: Marketing, Public Relations, Branding, Arts Technology, and an industry seminar, and developed syllabi for the latter two from scratch. I have also taught a Theatre Overview course and an online course in social media management as part of the Certified Performing Arts Executive program. Show less

DramaRama is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the performing arts of Greater New Orleans. Major activities revolve around an annual theatre festival held jointly at the Contemporary Arts Center and the Louisiana Children's Museum under the names of DramaRama and DramaRama Junior, respectively. In both venues, DramaRama strives to give performing artists a place to show their new work and to network with their peers. As Managing Director, my responsibilities included coordination, review, and jurying of festival submissions; scheduling of performances; maintaining relations with artists and technical staff; grantwriting; grant maintenance; and marketing. I was also responsible for promoting DramaRama's annual call for entries, which began as a locally focused endeavor but eventually reached artists in other parts of the U.S. Show less
