I advised clients in relation to a varied range of private client matters, including succession planning, the administration of deceased persons’ estates and the law relating to adults with incapacity. I also assisted with advising clients in relation to the creation and ongoing administration of trusts, with a particular focus on personal injury trusts.I also advise on the granting and operation of Powers of Attorney, often working with the firm’s unique Client Welfare Team. I was promoted to Associate in January 2018 and completed the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Diploma in Trusts and Estates (Scotland) and Solicitors for the Elderly accreditation while working for Balfour+Manson LLP. Trainee Solicitor
-
Aug 2013 - Aug 2015
I spent a large proportion of my time as a trainee gaining experience in the Private Client department but also enjoyed time in the firm’s Family Law Team and Property department. Whilst a member of the Family Law Team I assisted colleagues with family law actions in both the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts, gaining experience in cases involving financial provision on divorce, child law and some aspects of criminal law. After a short spell in the firm’s Property department, where I assisted with transfers of title and sales/purchases, I returned to the Private Client department to continue my training. Show less
