An EFL teacher in Guangxi, China, where I learned from the culture as much as I shared my knowledge. A great eye-opener as to what working and living in different cultures is like, and increased my adaptability, and desire for further travels. While mostly in charge of the cash register, which involved a lot of customer care, this job also required a lot of adaptability as any worker could be put in any different position as required. It was enjoyable and knowledgeable to work in the service industry, and taught me a great deal about how to be a people person. Resident Advisor
-
Aug 2014 - May 2015
The responsibilities brought on by being a Resident Advisor demanded of me to implement and enforce campus rules and regulations, but mostly offered me an opportunity I never would have had before to connect with different people. I was able to do this through the coordination with other staffs and offices for our monthly campus events. This job of leadership was in fact one of servitude towards my residents, and it led me to learn how to connect with different people, from so many different backgrounds as I had residents from Kenya, Nigeria, California, Washington, and Rwanda.

While interning at the NCHR in Rwanda, I was able to assist during meetings and fieldwork activities and was tasked with assembling and documenting different reports used for the yearly government publications on the Human Rights in Rwanda. Additionally, I was part of the event planning team that assembles assigned leaders in different provinces and listens to reports on human rights abuse that arose and how the local authorities dealt with it. Part of my responsibilities included; assisting my employer during court hearings and client meetings as a note-taker and record-keeper. I was able to learn from, and assist in, his negotiation processes through legal research from cases or or statutes. Other activities outside the courtroom included proof-reading and reviewing legal agreements and overall management of the office. Collaborated with the teachers during English and French lessons in the mornings and helped supervise the children. I was also able to provide assistance in the SOS Orphanage Homes during the afternoons, which allowed me to meet and spend time with the foster parents.
