MSF provides humanitarian relief through medical aid to those with the greatest need, often in conflict regions. In this role, I managed water and sanitation infrastructure at three of MSF’s hospitals in the Central African Republic, designing and implementing solutions in a multilingual environment. I led several construction projects to completion, built local capacity through hiring/training local staff and worked with several NGOs to achieve MSF’s objectives in the region. In 2013, Shell completed construction of a USD 300 million diesel treatment facility at their Port Dickson Refinery. I played a key role in the commissioning and startup and led the initial performance test run of the facility.Over two years, I delivered margin improvements of USD 7 million/year, challenged the catalyst strategy to save USD 1.7 million and made the unit one of Shell’s top three worldwide for energy performance.

Shell operates one of the largest oil sands facilities in Alberta. As a process engineer, I provided technical support, environmental regulatory support and led projects relating to water treatment/management at the Scotford Upgrader. At the mining/mineral processing facility, I worked as a CO2 engineer and defined a strategy that reduced emissions by 4.5% in 2013. I also worked with government relations teams to understand the GHG policy climate and developed a long-term technical strategy for future project development. Show less

The UK Medical Research Council is a branch of the UK government that conducts over £2 billion of medical research annually. At their facilities in West Africa, I delivered healthcare infrastructure (e.g. medical incinerators, power systems, water solutions) for their hospital/research centers across Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. I also obtained funding for a long term environmental strategy for waste, energy and water management and co-authored a World Health Organization (WHO) Bulletin titled “Meeting oxygen needs in Africa: an options analysis from the Gambia”, published in October 2009 Show less
