2010 - Nov 2017
Since 2010, Kristian has provided his architectural and design expertise to the team at Mark Wheeler Design, a successful high-end custom home designer based in Long Beach, California. With luxury construction, remodel and renovation projects ranging in size from $250K to $6MM+, Kristian has successfully navigated the intensely rigorous California State coastal commission; providing expertise in managing the state’s progressive yet intricate energy mandates, zoning commissions, neighborhood associations, and design review boards as part of his role in defining and creating construction drawings to their client’s specifications and vision. His commitment to high-standards, attention to detail and the creation of beautiful, engaging and sustainable architectural design is apparent in the end product; examples of which can be viewed at http://markwheelerdesign.net/.

Co-Owner/Principal Partner
-
2010 - 2013
After participating in a multi-disciplinary research project titled Workplace 2020, and being exposed to Meister and Willyerd’s research on the millennial generation’s workspace preferences in a global marketplace, Kristian instinctively, yet methodically, established the core concept for an innovative coworking café concept called The Desk, based in Denver, Colorado. As Co-Owner and Principal Partner, Kristian oversaw all components of this start-up venture to include business design and strategy, financial oversight, investor relations, and competitive analysis while building business awareness through social media outreach initiatives in conjunction with The Desk’s development. After years of planning and preparation, The Desk opened its doors in 2012 and was a place where independent contractors, freelancers, and organizational groups found an inspiring place to work, collaborate and create. The Desk, unlike others of its kind found in major hubs such as London or San Francisco, also offered a full-service coffee bar, curated eats, seasonal beer and a thoughtful wine selection to enhance their clients overall experience and sense of community. Kristian’s shared vision, and The Desk itself, would become the 1st coworking facility in Colorado to be recognized and offered membership through LExC, a network dedicated to the expansion of exceptional coworking and 3rd workspaces. During its time of operations, The Desk hosted Governor Hickenlooper’s re-election strategy team and also hosted project teams working with Humana Healthcare. The Desk was also a dedicated supporter of the community, with Kristian creating strategic community partnerships with organizations such as YouthBiz and the Colorado Ballet.
