Bio
Lynn Doan
Jesse was hands-down one of the best writers I worked with at The Hartford Courant. A few months after I arrived at the newspaper, then-Editor Cliff Teutsch gave a speech before the National Writers Workshop that he ended with a passage out of a story Jesse reported from Iraq. "Fallujah is a dancer behind dark veils. Just when you think the city is a ruin, that it would be hollow if it wasn’t filled with misery, there’s something else." It's this kind of writing, the kind that Jesse churns out like clockwork, that inspires other reporters to do better. I only regret that I didn't thinking of writing this recommendation sooner!
