    • 2016 Candidate for Hardin County Sheriff (Primary Run-Off)
      • Nov 2015 - May 2016

As the least known in a 6-candidate race for Hardin County Sheriff in 2016, Skinner was dubbed the "Dark Horse" as the people's favorite. Running a clean, grassroots "political outsider" campaign, Skinner earned every competitive endorsement (CLEAT, Sabine Area Central Labor Council, Beaumont Enterprise / Hardin County News, etc) and won every voter poll, becoming also known as "The People's Sheriff. " However, turn-out was low and having won every ballot box in the county except one city, votes came up short in a run off. The “Dark Horse” campaign video featured a song performed by his daughters, Jordan & Madison. It had over 42,000 views during the campaign from the candidate page. Skinner conducted several town halls across county and did not shy away from interviews or questions. The campaign was such a positive experience for both the candidate and the community, some video clips will be posted here for posterity. They are slowly being transferred from the former campaign page and archived to YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD2HVaszy_5gbgcc0KIhZ-w. Show less
