Dr. Hogsette was Director of Writing, tasked with creating and managing the new Writing Program at Grove City College. In addition to creating writing curriculum, he also staffed and managed the peer-tutored Writing Center. Dr. Hogsette taught writing courses and various literature courses, including Gothic literature, science fiction, fantasy literature, and Romanticism. He has authored two books: Writing That Makes Sense: Critical Thinking in College Composition, and E-mails to a Young Seeker: Exchanges in Mere Christianity, and he has published articles on such literary figures as Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Mary Shelley, William Godwin, Margaret Atwood, Ursula K.
