I had the fortune to work with Juan Vera at LPS, College Park. He was an invaluable resource to his students, and a passionate advocate for their needs. He was also a valued colleague to me in his role of leading intervention meetings with students and parents. I was always able to count on Juan for translation assistance, both in writing and in person. Most importantly, he always valued the future success of the students, and worked tirelessly to work towards that goal with every task that he set out to accomplish at LPS.

When I think of Juan Vera the word passionate comes to mind. Juan is very passionate about motivating and assisting at-risk students into higher education. In knowing Juan before his job at Leadership Public Schools, Oakland his college table was always crowded as he enthusiastically talked about CSU East Bay and its various opportunities. As a colleague Juan was a very approachable person when it came to planning our college counselor curriculum and utilizing each other as resources. He is well versed in college planning and would be a tremendous asset to any school or non profit organization.
