Kara-Tunga Foundation (KTF) is an Ugandan not-for-profit organisation which aims at fostering peace, prosperity and conservation through eco-tourism development in the countries northeastern Karamoja sub-region. KTF is an Kara-Tunga initiative to develop, manage, monitor and operate all the companies community development related activities. We are dedicated to change the outdated image of Karamoja (northeastern region of Uganda) and preserve the ancestral cultural heritage of the Karimojong through sustainable community tourism and arts. We beleive that through honest partnerships with the local communities, we’re able to build a sustainable relationship that results in positive development of peoples livelihoods. We listen to the challenges they have like; preservation of cultural heritage, food insecurity, lack of healthcare, youth unemployment. Therefore we endorse local artists and support the production of indigenous arts and crafts by providing them with an outlet. We educate them about tourism and hospitality for a better experience for both parties. And we lobby for the remote and often unreachable communities in order to involve them in livelihoods enhancing programs of (non-)governmental organizations. Show less

The Tour of Karamoja is Uganda’s annual wilderness bike tradition in the countries Northeastern Karamojaland. The event aims at creating opportunities through tourism and fundraising for education of the girl child. The trail takes you through Uganda's most untamed landscapes of Karamojaland, located in the countries far Northeastern corner, bordering Kenya and South Sudan. Expect a week of rich cultural encounters, dramatic scenery and Africa’s finest wildlife. The wilderness bicycle tour begins on the lower savannah plains in Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve and takes you over the rolling hills and mountain slopes around around Mount Kadam, Mount Moroto and Mount Morungole into Kidepo Valley National Park. The multiple stages will be varied and will challenge your fitness, technical ability and your bike. The event is a tribute to Its co-founders, the late professional cyclist and Tour de France commentator Paul Sherwen and the late founder of the global grassroots Bicycles for Humanity movement that brought 300,000 bicycles to Africa Pat Montani. Clash de Art Party is in 2005 ontstaan als samenwerking tussen De Oosterpoort en de Stadsschouwburg Groningen en Jonge Harten. Het kunstfeest symboliseerde de letterlijke botsing tussen dancestromingen en de theaterwereld. Tot 2007 werd Clash geprogrammeerd als eindfeest van Jonge Harten. Het Kunststipendium is een prijs van 5000 euro die beschikbaar wordt gesteld door de RUG in samenwerking met cultureel studentencentrum Usva. Iedere RuG-student met een creatief idee kan meedingen naar deze prijs door een projectplan in te zenden. Een professionele jury bepaalt wie de kans krijgt zijn idee te presenteren tijdens de finale op 15 mei. Op deze avond wordt vervolgens de winnaar bepaald van Kunststipendium 2012. Het Kunststipendium is een prijs van 5000 euro die beschikbaar wordt gesteld door de RUG in samenwerking met cultureel studentencentrum Usva. Iedere RuG-student met een creatief idee kan meedingen naar deze prijs door een projectplan in te zenden. Een professionele jury bepaalt wie de kans krijgt zijn idee te presenteren tijdens de finale op 15 mei. Op deze avond wordt vervolgens de winnaar bepaald van Kunststipendium 2012.

Stichting Urban House Groningen organiseert: een jaarlijks terugkerend festival met 2500 bezoekers en 200 artiesten aan de Kardingeplas in Groningen en gedurende het jaar verschillende evenementen ten behoeve van educatie en promotie van stedelijke kunstvormen als dans, muziek en theater. Binnen de organisatie was ik verantwoordelijk voor de volledige media en marketing afdeling.
