I had an opportunity to work with Pradip as his client while he was a civil engineer for Build Change. He led the reconstruction in several earthquake-affected zones from Build Change with funding support from the government of Nepal and international NGOs. He was a very detail-oriented engineer with a strong work ethic. He communicated well with the engineers, contractors, inspectors, and government agencies and was very good at multitasking, managing, and meeting deadlines. He was a technically sound, bright engineer who came up with practical solutions for challenges onsite.

I was Pradip’s mentor when he worked as a summer 2018 intern at our Eclipse office in Cleveland, Ohio. While I had known Pradip at Bowling Green University, we learned about his technical engineering and estimating skills at Eclipse Company. He quickly grasped the concepts and ideas of estimating for construction projects and became a favorite intern in the office within a week of his hire. He was detail-oriented, hardworking, and passionate about construction and engineering. He always asked the right questions, had critical thinking abilities, and communicated his ideas well.

Utilized MS Project to prepare meticulous schedules for diverse construction works, encompassing roadways, reinforcement placement, road curbs, and footings for towers and buildings. Generated accurate cost estimates for construction projects, relying on meticulous material takeoff from drawings and supplier quotes, subsequently presenting the estimates to the client. Thrived in a collaborative subcontracting team environment, coordinating with estimators and project managers to document daily project progress and facilitate productive meetings. Demonstrated a seamless balance between fieldwork, conducting work inspections to ensure quality, and handling office responsibilities with RFI (Request for Information) and Submittals. This enriching internship experience in the US (after my move from Nepal to the US) has bolstered my skills and aptitude in civil engineering, equipping me to tackle challenges and contribute meaningfully to future projects within the industry. Field Coordinator at Build Change Nepal, overseeing three districts during post-earthquake reconstruction. Collaborated with the Build Change USA team to facilitate USAID-funded reconstruction projects, providing engineering input on earthquake resilience construction practices, engineering design, construction inspection, and retrofitting concepts. Played a key role in transferring retrofitting knowledge from structural engineers to the local workforce in collaboration with the Build Change-USA field team. Acted as a facilitator for local program organizations, fostering collaboration between government authorities, donor agencies, structural engineers, construction crews, and homeowners. Managed budgets and schedules, providing timely updates and reports to donor agencies and government authorities. Demonstrated a keen sense of time management, team building, and collaboration, which were instrumental in my rapid progression from intern to leading three districts. Worked closely with a team of 40 engineers and sub-engineers stationed at different districts, showcasing eagerness to learn and take on increased responsibilities. Skills: Negotiation.
