I was working within the Cresko Lab who partners with UAA's Frank von Hippel's Biomedical Lab. I collected a larger amount of data by measuring the lateral plates of the three-spine stickleback for my mentor, Emily Lescak's graduate research. At the end of the data collection an ANOVA was done on the data collected and I presented the results to other interns within my cohort. I was worked for the von Hippel biomedical lab for four years. I did fish care and paper work for the first year or so and then I worked on a project with naiads (dragonfly larva) and stickleback. The work ended up getting published(Predation of threespine stickleback by dragonfly naiads). I also learned how to capture three-spin stickleback and how to fix and process them for DNA extraction. I also quantified DNA for a sample population of stickleback. I learned a lot of skills from this experience, please just ask me if you are interested in learning more.
