To whom it may concern, It is with great enthusiasm that I support Mrs. Ann Marie Geissel as a student/parent advocate, and consummate educational professional. Having worked alongside Ann Marie for several years at Phoenixville Area School District as the Lead Counselor responsible for all Special Education students. I have become familiar with the expertise and personal care that she commits to each student and dedication to each case. In my role, developing 504 Accommodation Plans, attending IEP meetings and in attending focused staff meetings, I have worked closely with Ann Marie and often used her knowledge of IEP laws and the changes therein to guide my treatment of students in need. Her availability, ongoing communication, team approach and passion for helping became evident after we initially met. She provided both myself and our student and families a sense of comfort, knowing their child was in such good hands. Ann Marie quickly became a go-to staff for our building, resource for all and the cornerstone for our Special Education services and population. It is noteworthy that a colleague of mine, from a previous job, had the privilege of working alongside Ann Marie and echoed my sentiments and shared my experiences. That colleague used words—like timely, thorough, understanding, sympathetic, personable and a joy to work with—that mirror my own. I give Mrs. Ann Marie Geissel my highest recommendation and appreciate the time we were able to share as educational professionals and as people. Her impact on our school community reflects what families deserve. Edward G Yeager Lead Counselor Berks County Intermediate Unit #14 Reading PA 19460 484-374-5513

Ann Marie gave me the foundation for my career in special education. As a brand new supervisor she took me under her wing and taught me through her time, talent, expertise and integrity. She had me as her side kick on many meetings as we drove from one school to another. She is fearless and leads with her heart. I’d recommend Ann Marie for any position because her skills are unmatched. She is an asset to the special education community and she will seamlessly apply her knowledge to any situation with grace.

I began my career in Methacton, a suburban school district in PA, as an Elementary Principal at Audubon Elementary. After two years, servicing my students, I was promoted to a curriculum supervisor, a special education supervisor and a director of pupil services.. These positions afforded me the opportunity to learn the dynamics working within a school district's central office with a focus on addressing instruction, student programs and overall student achievement. I began my education career in Philadelphia as a special education teacher. During the course of my tenure, I was appointed as an elementary principal. I served as a principal in several schools throughout Philadelphia. I worked collaboratively with my staff to teach the "whole child." Achievement is important but you must also understand the many challenges our students faced within their urban environments. Sensitivity and a thorough understanding of these needs is essential in order to bring out the best in children. I was a student of urban education for many years. I believe my experiences made me a better teacher and administrator. Show less
