Anne Marie has overall responsibility for the organisation however much of her day to day work is often outside the direct operations of the VIS business of working with athletes. Anne Marie liaises with sporting organisation partners, the AIS and State Government to secure and enhance funding for VIS programs & services, discusses and influences policy decisions and developments with the other State Institutes & Academies & AIS and keeping the Board & Government informed of progress against the strategic plan.Key achievements have included; undertook a review and renewal of the Strategic Plan (2010 & 2013), with new strategies and tightened KPI’s to be more objective & measurable. Implemented quarterly monthly reporting to Board against the plan. Prepared a “Future Directions” strategy and implementation plan which was presented to and endorsed by the Board. Secured additional recurrent funding of $6.7m over 4 years from 2008/09 from the State Government & additional “one off” Project Beijing funding of $1m from the State Government. In conjunction with the Chairman undertook the first Board Performance Review. Implemented a new and rigorous interview process for key coaching, technical and management positions.The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) is one of Australia’s elite high performance sports training and coaching organisations. Through promoting our maxim of “Success in Sport and Life” the organisation constantly strives to provide an environment in which talented athletes have the opportunity to excel in both their chosen sport and life in general. Underpinning this dedication is a strong set of core values that promote excellence, integrity, passion, respect and commitment not only amongst the athletes, but the coaching and support staff equally.

Greyhounds Australasia (GA) comprises representatives from jurisdictional controlling bodies in Australian states and territories, and New Zealand (the GA Directors).The charter of GA is to support these jurisdictions via encouragement of a national approach to the Australasian greyhound racing industry.GA provides its stakeholders with value-added services and practices that support industry integrity, optimal returns and ensures a sustainable future. As the inaugural Executive Director Anne Marie established the organisation which was based on the VIS model and she had overall management and leadership responsibility. In conjunction with the Board of Directors she led the strategic direction and policy development of the Institute. Anne Marie was the key spokesperson for the Institute and also ensured Scotland took a lead in the development of the UK wide network of Institute's and worked to establish strategic and operational partnerships with key organisations in the UK and across the world. The oeprational budget was GBP5m.The Scottish Institute of Sport provided coaching, training, competition and support services to Scotland's high performance athletes in preparation for Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Paralympic Games and sport World Championships

Responsibilities included; secure active support for sport and operate as the key spokesperson with government departments & agencies, parliamentary representatives, local government, the corporate sector, media and the community. Identify the ramifications for sport and comment on policies and strategies being considered by government and other agencies impacting on the sports network. Liaise with Member Sports Organisation’s in a proactive and reactive sense to determine the issues affecting sport and bring to their attention emerging issues and trends. Promoting the substantial economic impact, social and health benefits of sport. Develop and provide a range of valuable membership services and the day to day management of the business affairs and staff.Vicsport is the independent umbrella body for 128 National Governing Bodies/Service Organisations representing 1.5m registered sports participants in the State of Victoria. Its primary focus was the develop of sport appropriate policies by Government and the securement of suitable funding in support of those policies, together with a range of member services.
