    • Assistant Professor » Business English Program Co-Coordinator ▪️ Curriculum Design & Development
      • Apr 2017 - Apr 2021

Nanzan University recruited me for this position to work alongside an American to develop and create curriculum for the new English language stream for its College of Business Administration. This program is focused on second-year students and allows them to take a majority of their courses in English. This one-year program covers all of the major skills and is designed to brush up student’s Business English ahead of choosing their seminar for the final two years of university. I teach Business English courses to a variety of students. Normally I teach in the classroom, but because of COVID-19 I have successfully converted my classrooms to a fully online learning environment. I manage 4 courses online for 8, 15, 25 and 40 students per course. Additionally, I manage an annual research budget, write and publish research papers, and present research at educational conferences around the world. I sit on several committees within the university, including the Entrance Exam Committee. One of my proudest achievements has been organizing a volunteer trip for fourth year students to experience life in the slums of Bangkok through Human Development Foundation/Mercy Center. I have worked with a tenured professor at the university to mobilize his seminar classes for this experience, and I have negotiated all of the details between Mercy Center and the university. Although this trip has been put on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am looking forward to the opportunity to execute this trip and share cultural experiences. Show less

    • English Lecturer » Business English Language Program Design and Development ▪️ Course Coordinator
      • 2012 - 2017

At Ritsumeikan University, I lectured in the College of Business Administration, teaching core English writing, speaking and Business English. I also contributed to the design and implementation of a new English program within the college. Many of my classrooms were diverse in terms of different nationalities. This gave me the opportunity to counsel and advise international students on a variety of issues, including adjusting to life in Japan, issues with course-related studies, and future goals and dreams. Based on my experience and performance I was given increased responsibility and awarded the role of Course Coordinator for the pre-intermediate level of the Speaking and Writing Course. In this role I was responsible for other teachers teaching the courses and made sure the course was run properly. As Course Coordinator, I also created a supplementary textbook of easy speaking activities for teachers to use in the classroom. Show less

I had the privilege of building the English program at Setagaya Gakuen School, a prestigious private middle and high school in Tokyo. I taught to junior high school students, sometimes leading my own classroom and sometimes team teaching with other instructors. Additionally, I worked extensively with the school's overseas program. I developed a cultural handbook for students preparing to study in New Zealand and Canada. I also mentored students who were attending language programs at other institutions or obtaining homestays.
