  TQTVD Ltda. Is the leading software company implementing the Brazilian Interactive TV middleware required for digital TV sets sold in Brazil. Brazilian interactive TV is capable of running NCL (Nested Context Language), Lua and Java applications, stand alone or in any combination of the three. The original code base was licensed from the PUC University in Rio de Janeiro who had developed it as a proof of concept in Java which was later “transformed” or “converted” to C++ which was then licensed to TQTVD. Needless to say, the original codebase was heavily flawed, especially regarding memory management. The Middleware produced by TQTVD, called AstroTV, was ported to several different Linux and Free BSD versions used ad Operating System for TV Sets by Philips, Sony, LG, Panasonic and several lesser known brands As Senior Software Engineer/Architect I was responsible for and/or participated in: • Responsible for initial Memory Management in order to make it possible of the TV set/set top box to change channels. Utter lack of memory management in the original code base made it impossible to free resources necessary for channel change; • Responsible for the implementation of new features of the NCL language into the NCL interpreter; • Implementation of a communication bridge between NCL interpreter and the Lua and Java virtual machines; • Implementation of the Java Media Framework; • Implementation of a ‘Java View’ within the NCL interpreter; • Responsible Engineer for bug fixing for release versions of stable AstroTV releases; • Responsible Engineer for bug fixing in several porting projects; • Responsible for the Development of a Second Screen solution for enhanced user experience on IOS devices, using XCode and Objective C; • Responsible for the View Layer when the company decided to re-implement the NCL interpreter; • Responsible for merging a new product, called AstroTV+, into the existing production code base; Show less
