  Gekko is a start-up online travel company that recommends hotels and restaurants to members based on their tastes. The site uses a sophisticated algorithm that matches hotel and restaurant criteria with user preferences. The site has a strong community aspect that allows members to get in touch with other users with similar tastes and requirements for hotels and restaurants.At GEKKO we work on a JAVA based platform using GWT, JAVA, JavaScript and CSS to build the software. Since my start I have been involved in Google Web Toolkit and learned how to use it to best practice and I got my self a good understanding of this development framework. Working with Scrum process throughout the development.My main focus has been to re-build and re-design the whole site, from the homepage until the member pages. Since my start in January, I have redesigned the whole site throughout which is now ready for marketing.

  At OPODO we work on a JAVA based platform using mainly JSP, Struts and Tiles to build the softwareMy role is to build the front end of the application using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSP and AJAX.My primary focus while here has been a major rebuild of the home page, Hotel, Travel guides and the flight section. But I have also been doing support and change requests/enhancements and JavaScript achievements, for example the calendar component. Lately I have been writing AJAX scripts for flight search and results (e.g. Results and Filtering options).While at OPODO I have been introduced to both JSP with struts and tiles and have also been a part of the full project lifecycle. I have also improved my JavaScript by building components that are throughout the sites.
