Through my years at Sun Prairie I have designed and taught an assortment of science courses. These have ranged from introductory general science and biology classes, early in my career, to general physics and AP Physics courses that I have taught. Designing and running these courses has required me to consider all learners ability to access the materials, access resources for learning, and be ultimately be successful in their learning. This has required me to look to data on student achievement on a short term to pivot and provide aide to students in need. As well I have had to look to data on the long term to make large scale changes to impact future student achievement. Throughout my career I have worked to be an innovator. I created a Flipping Learning model of my classes between my second and third year then, based upon student data, made the change to a more hybrid model of learning. I have often worked with students and fellow staff to try creative ideas to better reach learners as well as more authentically assess learners. I have taken on leadership roles with my school as well. I have helped support staff as an gradebook software support person for multiple years and have led workshops related to training people to use our gradebook software. Beyond this I have created and led a team to attempt to make innovations in how we look at learning between classes. This team was created to brainstorm how we can make meaningful connections between classes and allow students to explore these connections through our courses. Show less
