I provided research and administrative support to academic staff while also supervising work-study students. I helped coordinate contract and grant administration between our center and the university. One of my most important tasks was assessing the efficiency of record keeping and organizational systems and implementing changes as necessary. A responsibility I took on while at the center was establishing our social media presence; I helped train staff on how to best use our Twitter profile to engage in the Early Childhood Education field. I was also responsible for keeping our website, listserv and email campaigns up-to-date. Show less

    • UROP-HHP Student Researcher
      • May 2010 - Jun 2011

I conducted research within the Humanities Honors Program, under the guidance of my faculty advisor, Professor Mitchell. I received two grants for my research: SURP (Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) for Summer 2010 & UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) for Winter/Spring 2011. I met with my peer review group on a weekly basis to edit drafts and compare research. I conducted interviews with multiple professors and attended multiple forums on African studies. My focus was on the neo-colonial commodification of Ashanti-Ghanaian culture in the United States. I also focused on Ashanti identity & Ghanaian history in the wake of colonialism & independence. The end result of my research was a senior honors thesis. I presented my findings at the UROP Symposium in May of 2011. Show less
