Undergraduate Research Assistant (Polyelectrolyte-Based Pharmaceuticals)
-
Aug 2016 - Dec 2016
The research was based on developing data to further understand protein uptake and release from certain polyelectrolyte-based biological derivatives that are commonly used in pharmaceuticals. This was achieved by relating properties of ionically crosslinked polyelectrolyte nanospheres to their formation via photo-spectroscopy. Then analyzing correlations to find the solution parameters that govern their optimum structural formation and protein uptake.

Undergraduate Researcher Assistant (Neuroendocrine Cancer)
-
Feb 2015 - Aug 2016
This research was conducted to monitor the metastatic behavior of glioblastoma cells. The metastatic behavior was induced by using arachidonic acid as a stimulant. While stimulating the cells, I used live cell imaging to record and analyze the correlation of calcium influx and release via hypothesized Orai-3 channels. As my work progressed, I used different agonists and antagonists to pinpoint the effectiveness of the hypothesized Orai-3 channels. Along with the research, I presented at lab meetings in front of medical students and doctoral candidates. Show less
