During my 8 years working for The Warehouse I have been in various positions inducing Checkouts, Shop floor, Customer Service and Entertainment. I spent my first 2 years mostly on checkouts and occasionally in other departments to discover what I liked best. I was regularly moved to the Entertainment dept during my Checkout shifts due to my expertise in the area and insane work drive. I spent my first 2 years mostly on checkouts and occasionally in other departments to discover what I liked best. I was regularly moved to the Entertainment dept during my Checkout shifts due to my expertise in the area and insane work drive. I was always bored in other areas when I could only do one thing at a time. Once my time came for the manager to officially roster me in entertainment, I quickly became the go to guy for the area and was very soon at the top role for the Dept. I then stayed there till I finally resigned, having gone through multiple stock takes, two store refits, numerous large scale product releases and the day to day running of my area and helping out others around the store.I learnt a lot from working with The Warehouse. The various skills I've mastered include:- Superior customer service- Stock/Inventory Management- Time Management- Training other staff- Theft Prevention- Adaption to change (moving from dept. to dept.)- Respecting the chain of commandWorking in retail defiantly gives you a new perspective on the working world, and teaches you to love the customer/client and to also take responsibility for punctuality and mistakes.
