Nutley Family Service Bureau is a non-profit organization that works to strengthen the emotional and social wellbeing of individuals through mental health counseling and social service programs for those in northern New Jersey. Helping conduct an Inclusive Community Assessment (ICA) in Nutley Township to identify disparities and barriers which includes; policies, services, systems, physical and attitudinal, that prevent community participation by Nutley residents living with disabilities. A public spaces assessment was conducted on public areas within Nutley New Jersey to find inaccessible and accessible features that would create barriers for people living with a disability in Nutley. The purpose of this project is to help improve, enhance and increase community involvement for people living with disabilities. This project helped give recommendations to Nutley Public Officials on what can be done to help create a more inclusive community for those living with a disability. For this project I : - Conducted a public spaces assessment. I analyzed each public space to find what areas were accessible or not - Took notes during viewings using observation tool assessments. these assessments had yes and no questions relating to accessibility and inclusivity. - Analyzed our data and findings after viewing each public space.
