In sweepr I work on the SDK to power a react native app in both iOS and Android, using swift, C++, Java and JavaScript for the react native demo app and SDK. The native SDK interrogates the local network using protocols like upnp, bonjour, ping etc. It also communicates with the server via rest and MQTT calls to return resolutions to the containing app. A resolution is a JSON based flow which allows the User to choose options, run speed tests, communicate with the router and the Sweepr backend and more to determine issues with his local network or provide information. This UI is generated on the fly using JSX in react and HTML in native code. In both cases the JS calls back into native code and vice versa. This SDK is either a standalone api can be integrated into both native apps and react native apps, or the full UI which provides a drop in react native or native component. As part of this I have fixed some issues on the react framework which have been integrated by Facebook.

I started working with NewBay - a fully owned subsidiary in August 2012. Newbay was sold to Synchronoss Technologies in December that year. My first few months were involved in unit testing and adding features to the 12.2 version of the Personal Cloud. In 2013 I re-wrote the Personal Cloud application, and also worked on two new Application. See the above entry for more details. Worked on numerous iOS projects as a contractor for Chelsea Apps Factory, which is the largest app developer in London. At the time I started the employee count was about 10 people, and some of the projects I worked on, in particular the GSK connect leaders project, have facilitiated it's future expansion into enterprise applications. Now they have 100 or so people across many countries. Was offered a permanent position but wanted to return to Ireland. The projects I worked on ran the gamut from pure native, to hybrid applications, enterprise applications, games and internal project demos. See the project list below for more details.

Designed and wrote a video playback app for BlinkBox, using the lower level frameworks of iOS to buffer, and stream videos from BlinkBox. The app useds HTTP and HTTPS protocols for webservices, talks to the server handling user account and general video libraries. Local storage of details using NSCoder protocols. Worked with their internal Webservices team to deliver the webservices to the client app. The release app was not as complex as the one I created as the cost of in app purchasing, at 30%, wiped out blinkBoxes margins. So the purchase library, and download libraries were jettisoned. Skills: AVVideoController, CoreAnimation, In-App Purchase, JSON, Sqlite, comples networkin ( passing of cookies), security, UIKit.

TigerSpike was the largest App developer in London in 2009. In my first contract I was drafted in to fix quite a few issues with an application designed for Bulgari the high end jewellery company. As well as a simple enough display of content drive from a website, the app distorted images to represent looking through a diamond. This was a quick month project to fix isuses however it generally involved a large rewrite of the image processing layers to handle the distortions more efficiently. Not now available you can see a review here: http://www.socialmedianews.it/worldwide-launch-of-the-official-bulgari-b-zero1-iphone-app

Started working in The Filter (www.thefilter.com) as a Mac engineer using Objective C and porting the Filter client - a precursor of the Genius type recommendation technology - to the Mac. The Mac client - which had it's own UI - was more successful than the Windows client and was featured a number of times on the Apple store Moved onto the B2B service: The Filter supplies recommendation business services to external clients. Worked with various clients, the largest of whom were supplying thousands of data points a second. The web services I worked on included generating DVD recommendations for DVD, the recommendations for Daily Motion, and the recommendation web services for We7 music, which is now Tesco Music.
