  I spent 2 years in Professor Visai Laboratory. My internship was focused on the optimization of engineered alginate hydrogels for the repair of ischemic lesions. I learned how to perform isolation of primary cells (monocytes) and how to differentiate them into macrophages with a pro-healing phenotype. I actively participated in experimental design, execution, data analysis as well as interpretation of results of the project.
