Following my completion of two consecutive co-op contracts with SNC, I was offered a third contract. Instead of retaining my position as Stewardship Assistant I am migrating into GIS work as an assistant technician. I have gained experience with developing and editing geospatial landcover data through the interpretation of aerial imagery and LiDAR derived elevation products, and georeferencing subdivision plans and drawings.

Stewardship Assistant

I began my position with South Nation as Stewardship Assistant in May 2021. Upon completing a summer contract I was offered an 8-month contract for 2022. In my role as Stewardship Assistant I have undertaken many projects and opportunities of various scopes.Working in the realm of habitat restoration, I have completed numerous grassland and wetland site visits documenting avian and vegetation species to supplement biodiversity reports for newly acquired properties. Working with the data obtained from biodiversity reports, I learned various methods of creating new or reestablishing dried wetlands, such as installing artificial beaver dams and repairing historically present dams.I also contributed to the data collection and revision of the 2022 South Bear Brook Catchment Report, as well as authoring a report to Fisheries and Oceans Canada for our annual municipal drain classification work. Chef supervisor

During my time at Farm Boy I was promptly promoted to Chef Supervisor within three months of employment, as a result of my ability to learn and adapt quickly as well as my previous supervisorial experience in food and customer service. I was responsible for setup of various food stations and ensuring appearance and food standards were met throughout the day. Other duties included assigning staff to certain stations based on skill level while training new employees in those positions; maintaining shelving appearances and ensure food displays were well-stocked during peak hours; and keeping staff on track to ensure quick and friendly service while also carrying out shift-related duties. Environmental, Health and Safety Student

In this position I was largely responsible for auditing NRCan's environmental management system (EMS) and occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS). I created an audit template and saw it through to ensure compliance to ISO standards, and then authored a report summarizing results and possible suggestions to improve management systems in place. To compliment the work, I also attended JOHS meetings and consults, and presented my findings and suggestions throughout the 4-month term to the upper management team. Show less
