Communications Coordinator
-
Feb 2023 - Present
As the communications coordinator, I have an expansive range of responsibilities: I collaborate with graphic designers to create marketing content for upcoming programs and events for multiple different channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and e-mail newsletters. I create multi-month marketing schedules to ensure that these programs and events are effectively promoted, working closely with our Program Directors to ensure their vision is reflected. I host and manage webinars and podcasts, featuring panelists from numerous different industries discussing pertinent financial and environmental issues. This involves hosting dry-runs prior to the event to ensure that the panelists are familiar with the flow of the conversation and any technical difficulties are resolved, managing issues that arise during the event, and audience management. I edit and upload the recordings to YouTube and Blubrry, and prepare facilitating documents including biographies of the speakers and the transcript of the conversation. I am the main content manager of our website; I upload and format approved resources on our website, including TC Notes (covering topics such as leadership, crisis management, risk-based supervision), toolkits for supervisors, and more. I post news pieces from Toronto Centre, make updates to our "History" page, and ensure our staff is up to date with correct personnel and job titles listed. I work with our web developer to ensure optimal operation of the website in the vision of our Senior Director of Finance and Quality Assurance, making changes to layouts and visuals as requested. I assist with in-person events, nationally and internationally, including our 2023 IMF Spring Meeting events where we hosted a fireside chat on the future of central banking and a panel session on the climate change, biodiversity loss, and food security crises. This included registration verification, set-up, in-person recruitment, and more. Show less

Social Media Coordinator
-
Sep 2022 - Dec 2022
As the social media coordinator, I reported directly to the social media manager and assisted with creating and scheduling content for various social media channels including Instagram (with over 440K followers), TikTok (with over 90K followers), and our website (with over 20,000 users on a monthly basis). I was the principal written content creator for our website, creating a minimum of 10 blogs per week, in addition to monitoring performance of blogs and the website using Google Analytics. I was also the principal TikTok creator, creating 10 original TikToks per week and reposting Instagram Reels that clients had paid for, in addition to monitoring performance of TikToks and developing strategies to improve performance. I communicated frequently with existing and potential clients, maintaining, creating, and renewing relationships. I did this through outreach on Instagram, handling inbound inquiries through email, and research of new businesses, emerging trends, and upcoming events. I prepared invoices for clients using Quickbooks, handled inquiries regarding payments, and updated my manager and the rest of my team on their status. Show less

Freelance Writer
-
Apr 2018 - Aug 2022
I have worked as a freelance writer for various virtual hockey leagues, including the Sony Playstation Hockey League, the Virtualgaming Affiliate Hockey league, and the Leaguegaming Hockey League (the latter associated with a variety of eSports tournaments hosted by actual NHL teams), under the alias of Dirty-Dietrich. I would create weekly pieces discussing teams' performances, statistical leaders, notable events and transactions, and previews of the week/season to come. These pieces required extensive research, and had a quick turnaround time; many weeks would end on Thursday or Friday, and I would have the article posted before the new week of games on Sunday or Monday (league dependent). I would also create graphics for articles using Canva, appear as a guest on podcasts and live broadcasts, and other media discussing events of the league. Show less

Assistant Store Manager
-
Dec 2020 - Apr 2022
As the Assistant Store Manager, I was responsible for overseeing operations of the store and ensuring they were consistent with the vision of my store owner. I wear "multiple hats" in the store, including: Merchandising: I was tasked with creating signage and labels for products and ensuring that high-selling products were featured prominently in high-visibility areas throughout the store. In addition, I ensured that the store was clean, organized, and made a great first impression on customers. Staff scheduling and management: I created the schedules for four departments within our store, accommodating staff requests and ensuring each department had full coverage at all times. In addition to this, I resolved staff conflicts and provided discipline when necessary; to do this, I utilized the skills I had learned in my Professional Communication schooling and management principles class that I took while studying finance at Humber. Client/Supplier communication: I communicated on a daily basis with high-profile/priority clients and ensure that they were satisfied, as well as taking custom orders, providing general customer service, and more. With suppliers, I was tasked with placing orders on a daily basis and resolving disputes to maintain a positive relationship and ensure that our store is adequately stocked. Bookkeeping: I was responsible for checking sales on an hourly basis and relaying this information to my store owner, providing updates at peak times as we analyze and assess the needs of the business. I also created invoices for caterings, captured payments through digital sales platforms, and prepared receipts for sister stores we supply. Finally, I was tasked with balancing floats, preparing deposits, and ensuring we had enough petty cash and coins on hand to conduct business. Show less
