In 2018, Sarah worked as an air pollution monitoring technician under my supervision. This study involved investigating air pollution levels in the Toronto subway system. Sarah demonstrated herself to be an intelligent, conscientious researcher. She quickly gained a thorough understanding of our project’s research objectives and methods. With this understanding, she was able to work independently and solve problems on her own. Further, she made recommendations to me on our project which economized our fieldwork and data analysis. She also demonstrated an interest in other research projects in the group, networked with their leaders, and contributed to their goals using her skills in ArcGIS.

As part of the Green Buildings team at the Township of Langley, I was at the forefront of decreasing building emissions and making our homes better. I supported policy development (BC Energy Step Code, GHG Development Permit Areas), builder education, customer service, and data analysis. Additionally, I gained experience working with consultants, managing project budgets, and tracking project schedules. Some highlights include co-organizing an educational event for Realtors and the public at an Energy Efficient Demonstration Home in Fort Langley in December 2019; coordinating a builder breakfast with over 200 attendees in February 2020; producing four informational tools on rebate programs and the green building process at the Township of Langley; and mentoring a student during summer, 2020 and 2021.
