-Programming and curating a music festival -Booking -Spotting of new trends in music and scouting potential talent As part of the music group, it is my job to listen to music sent to the festival by artists and bands from Scandinavia and select potential artists that could be suitable for the music programme. Being a part of this group has further improved my knowledge of what it means to curate a music programme and be a booker at a festival, and the position has also made me experienced in spotting new trends in music as well as new potential talented artists. -Curating music and cultural events -Booking -Project management -Fundraising -Handling and negotiating deals and contracts with various artists -Production, stage management -Fudnraising -Communication & SoMe -Graphic design (posters, Facebook banners) -Event management and general planning and execution og various concerts, festivals and events In this position I assist with finding and booking artists and bands, arranging and producing concerts, and I am a part of the team developing and programming the yearly music festival Newbees Festival. Previously I have created, developed and organized my own live music concepts such as New Beats, a concept which, like Newbees Festival, focuses on upcoming artists and bands. Examples of artists that have been a part of the New Beats programme are Josephin Bovién and Bad Birthday. This position has helped me gain experience with the booking and programming process, the music business and how it operates in general, as well as experience with project management and event management. It has made me skilled at communicating and negotiating professionally with bookers, managers etc., at creating graphic materials as well as producing SoMe content as well as helping me gain knowledge about the basics of fundraising. As a booker I focus on picking artists and music based on wanting to create a diverse and multifaceted music programme, an ambition, point of view and work style I intend to bring with me throughout my career. -Experience design -Curating -Art direction -Project management -Planning and coordinating the production process together with the festival's directors as well as the artists and the music venues -Budget and buying in regards to the needed materials As a curator and experience designer I worked together with two visual artists from Aarhus to create the aesthetic concept for the festival space. I was in charge of the creative process as well as the execution of the design. I made the production schedule, handled the budget and bought the materials necessary to create the space. I coordinated about the production of the festival spaces with three different music venues, all whilst having a continuous dialogue about our concept, budget and progress together with the creators of the electronic music festival. The aesthetic was based on the festival’s brand and color scheme as well as inspired by the previous curators and experience designers’ work. The concept was inspired by the season (winter) during which the festival took place, the clubbing and rave aesthetic and the two artists’ own visual style. SPARK* was an electronic music festival that focused on upcoming artists, niche genres in electronic music and diversity and equality in the music industry, specifically the issue of the lack of representation of female artists as well as in the Danish music business landscape. -Project management -Concept development -Research As project assistant I worked with research and concept development for an exhibition project that we worked on in collaboration with Danish Architecture Center. The exhibition named “Nutidens forbrug -Fremtidens problem”, which was open during 2019, focused on the 11th sustainability goal and how the younger generations engage the climate crisis. During my internship I specifically helped with the concept development of the design of the exhibition and research, for example looking for potential partners that could be involved in the exhibition project. I also worked with a project about the sustainability goals, in English titled "sustainability goals walk at Skoldungernes land", a project that we worked on in collaboration with the national park Skjoldungernes Land. I worked with ideation and concept development in terms of to how the project, which was a big event in the national park, could be designed, realized and anchored. Not only as a singular event, but a year-long event, and how we together with the local community as well as national actors, could make a real impact and create a good build-up for the event before and after, all in pursuit of creating awareness about the sustainability goals as well as making people act and take ownership of the problems we, as a global society, are facing. My mentors Pernille Sander and Karin Gottlieb gave me a recommendation, in which the following is written: “Cecilie is very thorough and engaging. She has had a structured work approach and we have been very pleased with working together with her.” Show less

-Production -Project management -Curating -Budgeting, handling contracts -Communication -Research -Planning, coordinating and executing all sorts of events, from festivals to concerts, to children's theater and performance art projects As assistant to one of the producers at Aarhus Festuge, it was my job to help coordinate and manage som of the events and projects taking place at the festival in 2018. For example I assisted with booking musicians, negotiating their contracts and with planning and executing a performance art project by the artist Willi Dorner. In sum, I was the right hand of the producer, and I was tasked with everything from planning and curating events to overlooking budgets and production plans, enabling me to have knowledge of and being able to pretty much handle everything and anything that has to do with the production of a major event or a festival. Communication with partners, artists and audiences, PR and mangement of the artists once they were on site are also some of the tasks or areas I have been learning about and working with, and in general this internship has prepared me for what it means to be a part of a huge cultural event and enhanced my project management and producer skills. The festival team gave me an official recommendation, stating that I have been a valued employee: "With great fortitude, Cecilie has handled many different assignments. She has shown great aptitude for teamwork as well as being able to work independently." Show less

      • Aug 2011 - Sep 2013

During my gap years and while attending high school, I volunteered at the music venue. I was a part of a music committee that helped the booker with programming and producing the concerts. I was also a part of the venue staff, helping out behind the bar, at the door, as a stagehand etc. This gig was my first taste of the music business.
