Bridged the gap in further understanding how heterocyclic amines in overcooked meat specifically: IQ, MeIQ, MeIQx, DiMeIQx, PhiP, A alpha C, Harman, and Norharman, contribute to the disease pathology in relation to Parkinson's. o Gained expertise in neurotoxicology and neurology through the isolation of the midbrains in fetal rats, conducted disease scoring in rats to determine functional changes after exposures, oral gavaging Sprague Dawley Rats, and assisting in breeding.o Skills acquired under this project consist of performing monoamine oxidase assay, immunocytochemistry, quantification of neurons and neurite length (Cytation 3 software), and using the Nikon A1R confocal microscope.This project yielded in 1 publication.
