Some of my key responsibilities in this role include: - Working closely with the Communications and Engagement Managers, the Marketing and Communication Executive, and wider team to design and create engaging content for our campaigns and other marketing activities to run throughout the school year. - Supporting flagship Governors for School marketing events such as our annual conference - including the creation of our programme and content, engaging stakeholders via all social media platforms (ie. live tweeting), creating and managing advertising campaigns on social media and establishing online communities (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram). - Supporting our organisational inclusion strategy and goal of increasing the diversity of our volunteers through engaging content and design for both print and digital platforms as well as delivering our paid digital strategy across all social channels - Following briefs provided by Communication and Engagement Managers and other members of the charity leadership team, which includes: video editing, design work to create brochures, newsletters, infographics, posters, webpages, social media videos and imagery. - Overseeing the design, and supporting with copy development for the Governors for Schools website, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. - Managing the paid social media budget, including managing the administration of Google Ads and Facebook Ads, while generally supporting the development of the charity’s social media and SEO strategies.

Co-opted Governor | Chair of Teaching and Learning Committee & EDI Link Governor

In November 2018, at the age of 24, Olivia joined the Local Governing Board at King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls (part of the KEVI Academy Trust in Birmingham) as a Co-opted Governor, bringing the specialism of understanding the student perspective and how decisions being made at a strategic level impact the students in that school's community. Within a year of being a school governor in this setting (November 2019), Olivia was appointed as the Chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee, alongside being a Link Governor for specific subject clusters, from languages (French and German) to core subjects (Maths and English). In February 2020, following her new role and responsibilities, Olivia was a member of the interview panel for an Interim Assistant Headteacher position as required at the time to join the Senior Leadership Team. This resulted in an internal promotion of a middle leader who was able to add value to the discussions that take place in LGB and Committee meetings around developing the CPLD of staff, Parental Engagement and even more significantly, the strategised structure and efficient execution of remote / home learning for students, as we navigated the pandemic. As of the Summer Term in 2020, Olivia became the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Link Governor for the purposes of driving forward change in the academy and strategically supporting the SLT, EDI Lead (Deputy Headteacher) and the internal committee made up of students representatives from different year groups. In this role, Oliva is able to engage with the students directly, to listen, learn and understand more about their desires for their school community / environment and make suggestions on what they can do to lead sustainable change for the whole student body. Being a young governor, provides Olivia with an opportunity to translate between multiple generations - Generation Z (students) and Millennials, Gen X, Boomers and upwards (staff, SLT and governors).

Business Operations and Development Support

In this position, I heavily assist the Director with a variety of responsibilities; including but not limited to preparation for training programmes (attending these also provides an opportunity to learn how to execute public speaking and delivery well), sorting out annual accounts, client-related task support, filing, document creation/amending (i.e. through proof-reading), written and telephone correspondence with any business associates, travel planning and event planning/management. The role is quite demanding, requiring a high level of organisational skills among others but that's where I thrive and find excitement, with no two days being the same. I have become more comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial information, as well as building and discovering skills in other business-related areas. As the CEO is in the process of writing her first book, I now find myself in charge of transcribing all the audio recordings of interviews with named associates, general discussion and self-reflection to alleviate the pressure of having to sit and write everything herself. Shadowing and ultimatelty working alongside Sharon Warmington, is currently and will in turn help me to grow and develop as an all-rounded individual.

This fast-paced environment, involves an array of tasks and responsibilities both office-oriented and on-site. Working with a number of organisations, from local enterprises, to bigger companies, schools and colleges, and voluntary workers, I am able to parttake in various business and social activities. Showing initiative, remaining motivated and keeping up with the constant work-demands from the different directors/managers of the company, as well as dealing with guests/visitors, phone calls and many other aspects of administration, are essential and I continuously try to to excel. I'm trustworthy and responsible to be left alone and in charge of the office whilst the senior members of staff are away, at meetings or on leave. This year (2015) I have been able to further widen my skill set and experience within this specific company, as I was put in charge of preparing and running training programmes for secondary school aged young people, geared primarily towards assisting their own personal development. My role has since elaborated into taking control of the Finance aspect of the business, organising the receipts and carrying out the double-entry of each one on the SAGE system, engaging with the company's accountant to ensure everything is done correctly and up-to-date.
