I am Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland As Registrar for Engineers Ireland and Chief Risk Officer my role includes the setting and maintaining of academic and professional standards for the engineering profession. Key aspects of my role include implementing an active accreditation process for engineering programmes delivered in Ireland to ensure they meet the best international standards. I also represent the interest of the engineering professional at national and international fora and speak on related topics in national and international media.I represent Engineers Ireland in international matters and have been elected President of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) for the 2019-2020 term (www.enaee.eu) and Chair of the International Engineering Alliance (www.ieagreements.org) for 2019-2021 - both organisations set standards for engineering education and mobility across the globe. I am a member of the Accreditation Board of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (www.hkie.org.hk).Previously as a member of Engineers Ireland Damien I was chairman of the ICT Division, a member of the Executive Committee and was elected to the Council of Engineers Ireland. Prior to joining Engineers Ireland I worked in the telecommunications sector focusing on product development and strategic alliances. I have been active on a number of national and international standards bodies including EU, ITUTS and the National Standards Authority of Ireland ETCI and currently participate in a number of national consultative groups.
