  Sign Salad is a semiotics and cultural insight agency providing qualitative cultural research and discourse analysis to discover emergent cultural shifts, thus helping brands to develop brand strategies, making them more distinctive and compelling, and capturing consumer attention.Initially a one-month internship, the internship was extended after I successfully worked on campaigns for high profile clients in both the UK and international markets. My key responsibility consist of compiling in-depth research on relevant cultural codes and semiotic analyses of brand positionings (including analyses of commercials, packaging and communication and their relationship to the cultural associations that surround them) in a variety of markets, delivering comprehensive, actionable results in the form of a concise, illustrated presentation.Additionally, I have provided articles for the company blog using Wordpress, and assisted in managing social media channels including Twitter and Instagram.   As an assistant for the research project Eurogr@mm, I served as copyeditor for e-content for an international online science publication. I was in charge of proofreading and editing scientific articles, including html-, xml-, and java-scripting, as well as the generation and programming of online exercises for foreign learners of German. The skills I developed in this capacity include photo-editing as well as sound and video processing for the three out of eight sections whose publication I oversaw. I served as the internal communications manager for an international team of researchers from eight Universities in five European countries and assisted in the organisation of conferences, presentations and lectures. I furthermore assisted in linguistic corpus-research, providing quantitative and qualitative statistic data analysis and managing the data processing for presentation.   In my position as freelance writer for the daily local newspaper Isenhagener Kreisblatt, I was able to gain wide-reaching experience as a journalist. Working for a variety of desks, from local news, to politics, arts, culture and sports, I authored news stories, interviews, reports and columns on a daily basis and was schooled in delivering print-ready copy to tight deadlines. In 2009, I was contributed a bimonthly feature column detailing my experiences working as a volunteer in Ecuador, and was able to report on the experiences of working with homeless and disabled children, as well as cultural and political developments in Southamerica, including the 2009 coup d'état in Honduras and it's effects on Ecuador's political landscape. In 2010 I joined the sports desk as a regular staff writer, reporting on local sports news.   The Fundación Cristo de la Calle is a non-profit charity organisation working with with homeless children and impoverished families in across the province of Imbabura, Ecuador.I worked as a live-in care taker with eight children with cognitive disabilities who were taken in by the foundation, and was in charge of overseeing their therapies, and supporting local psychologists with language and rehabilitation therapies as well as tutoring. This also included organising and overseeing recreational events and cultural activities for children. I was furthermore in charge of managing grocery distributions for families across the province and support them in managing chores.Over the course of the year, I helped establish connections to international charity organisations to help guarantee new volunteering opportunities and funding.My key responsibilities included:• Assisting disabled children in their daily routines• Language therapy, rehabilitation therapy and tutoring• Organisation of recreational events and creative activities• Management of food and grocery distribution• Establishing a network of charitable organisations and supporters• Point of contact for incoming and future volunteers
