Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment is a cross-sector program priority of Peace Corps Benin. • Oversaw all of Peace Corps Benin's annual GenEq and youth development programs• Reviewed, provided comprehensive feedback for, and facilitated the processing of over 100 Volunteer project proposals and grant applications• Prepared, facilitated, and co-facilitated multiple training sessions, including gender and development, project design and management, grant writing, education, youth development, and sustainable development• Modified Peace Corps Benin’s Youth Program Policy to strengthen GenEq and Youth Development programs by increasing institutional memory and program sustainability. This included implementing mandatory training workshops for all local counterparts participating in national youth events, standardizing closing reports for program directors, actively integrating core GenEq programs into preexisting community structures and NGOs, reinforcing Volunteers’ role as liaisons and capacity-builders, increasing the number of program beneficiaries, and implementing mandatory student-led community service projects after students attend national youth events. • Encouraged and assisted all Volunteers in incorporating and undertaking GenEq projects by serving as an active resource, helping Volunteers design projects, sharing relevant documents and information, and presenting at projects as requested.
