Jean-Baptiste took my course on the EU's economic and monetary policy. He wrote a research paper, did an oral presentation and took an oral exam on the topic in English, demonstrating a good understanding of economic governance in the EU and his ability to work effectively in English. In combination with the more general knowledge acquired in the programme on the EU's institutions and legal system, he would be a valuable asset to any organization dealing with EU affairs.

Reference for Jean-Baptiste Meert It is a real pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Jean-Baptiste Meert. He was a student in my courses on European politics (European Political Integration, Policies of the European Union, Decision Making in the European Union, Recent Developments in EU Politics). Those courses are very interactive, so I know the students (particularly the most motivated amongst them) very well. It is fair to say that Jean-Baptiste Meert was a good student at those courses. For other courses as well, he obtained good results. His academic performance places him high amongst the students. He has well-considered and original views on European politics. Jean-Baptiste Meert holds a bachelor degree in communication management and a master degree in European Union Studies. He has writing his master thesis, required to complete his studies, under my direction. This thesis on gender equality at the workplace from a EU perspective was an illustration of his preparedness to tackle difficult and intriguing research questions. The language of instruction at Ghent University is Dutch, but because most Mastercourses use English- and French-language handbooks, I can confirm that his language skills are outstanding. His writing skills (papers, reports, articles, etc.) and presentation skills are excellent as well, both in French and in English. I recommend him highly.
