I spend 40% of my time on specific development tasks, like other developers, writing code myself, reviewing pull requests, and putting down the foundation for others to build upon themselves. The remaining 60% of my working time is spent developing IT Minds more strategically and professionally. Principal Developer is a guiding, supportive role with a great responsibility to develop and ensure the overall consultancy quality for IT Minds. I'm the main contributor to raising the general level of knowledge by facilitating internal presentations and courses. In addition, I'm given time and the responsibility to immerse myself and research new learning for us to use. I'm the local technical organization's primary sparring partner. I'm responsible for implementing code standards, researching, and keeping up to date within the general tech development. Therefore, it's expected of me that I have excellent communication skills. I'm the final decision-maker on the architecture used for major projects in the event of a conflict. Here I'm required to make the right decisions for the project, client, and business with my knowledge within the field. I'm to be considered a role model for the other developers. It's expected that I can guide and motivate, e.g., the project team, so that their programming skills are improved while strengthening cohesion. In addition, I'm responsible for ensuring that management understands potential changes in the technical organization concerning the professional aspect. Finally, I am also the gatekeeper when we recruit for our other high-level developer positions like "Lead Developer" and "Tech Lead."
