Randy and I went to high school together and I and my musical group played at a Runnin' for Rhett function back in 2011 and it was an awesome experience! You can see the passion that Randy and his wife share with the world in this endeavor. ANYTHING I can contribute to help Randy and his foundation I will gladly give.

Will Smith

Of all the managers I reported to in my 16 years at The Sacramento Bee, Randy was one of the very best. Not only is he an organized, motivational coach, he actually cares about the people he works with, and that is a quality that can be very hard to find in today's corporate environment.

The Runnin' for Rhett Non Profit (R4R) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established December 7, 2007 in memory of Rhett Seevers. Rhett passed away in March of 2004, at the age of seven, from complications of Cerebral Palsy.Since 2010, grants totaling over $846,000 have been awarded to Sacramento regional schools, allowing over 32,500 students to participate in a seven week after school physical and nutritional training. Each training session culminates with a 5K "timed" race. We track the miles covered by each student, during training, utilizing a scanning QR card. Through a partnership with New Balance shoes and Fleet Feet Corporate, in April of 2019, the organization awarded 1000 pair of shoes to neediest of youth in our program. We plan to make this an annual shoe giveaway event. Our mission is to get children to move into life and battle childhood obesity through our Youth Fitness Program (YFP). Our YFP is open to all schools in the Sacramento metro region with an emphasis on at-risk youth attending Title I (low income) schools. The YFP educates children and their families about physical fitness and nutrition in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Yolo counties. An additional focus is placed on working with children with physical disabilities and increasing their ability to be physically active.
