Write for Life
-
Oct 2008 - Present
Lead Teacher/Editor/Author/Program Director: I am the Founder of Write for Life: a comprehensive, non-profit, Common Core educational curriculum, creative writing project and tutoring program working in collaboration with local school districts, businesses, libraries and universities to provide learners and job seekers of all ages the essential communication skills necessary for LIFE. Utilizing a combination of current technologies, social media, literature, writing strategies & techniques, critiquing, proofreading and editing, we put penmanship, spelling, punctuation and quality writing back into the classroom and community. You want higher standards, efficiency and "professionalism", but no one wants to pay for it, finance it or earn it. First, we have to TEACH IT. Communication IS education--and more than ever before, the course of your lives depend on it. This program is designed to obtain and enhance the life skills necessary to maximize a students' highest potential, seek higher education and eventually at a minimum, sufficient success in employment. My students learn that writing is not only required for every critical area in life, but that learning to write effectively is fun and rewarding; providing opportunities throughout the course of their lives to publish, advance within their chosen profession, use their voice for change, communicate their needs with the world and contribute their talent to a much greater purpose. Write for Life is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to saving and enhancing lives for a better future. We are a small start-up operation, seeking state and federal funding to promote our project into the national sector. I am currently responsible for communications management and administrative operations. Skills necessary to perform specific functions include: negotiating and coordinating funding efforts, marketing and promotional services, non-profit legalization and event planning. Show less
