As a Substitute Teacher at Wallkill Valley Regional High School, I have established a strong rapport with the students, faculty, and administration by mixing a high degree of professionalism and dependability with genuine enthusiasm for education and learning. I began substitute teaching at Wallkill while finishing my Bachelor's Degree at Montclair State University. During this time, I earned a reputation for maintaining an orderly and respectful environment in the classroom and competently aiding students in a wide range of subjects from English to Calculus. After graduating from Montclair State in 2015, I spent the 2015-2016 academic year living in Brooklyn, New York, and working in Library Systems at the The New School. While I enjoyed my time working in Library Systems, I returned to New Jersey and Wallkill Valley in November of 2016 to look for inspiration. Since then, I have been a regular substitute and a familiar face at Wallkill Valley. Returning to Wallkill reminded me of my deep passion for education, and I quickly decided to pursue a Teaching Certification through New Jersey's Alternate Route. The faculty and administration at Wallkill have been extremely supportive and accommodating, helping me to develop and teach my own lesson plans in the English Language Arts program, and offering me excellent opportunities to complete my coursework through daily clinical experience. While the faculty often remark on my intuitive knack for teaching, what I find most gratifying about substitute teaching are the moments when my students are inspired to share authentic insights and epiphanies. (That and when students in the hallway refer to me as the G.O.A.T. or Greatest of All Time). Show less

While at The New School, I worked as a member of the Library Systems team within Digital Libraries and Technical Services. During this time, I played a key role in several projects, though my favorite to work on was the virtualization of the Library's electronic reserves software Ares using University IT's VMWare Horizon implementation. Throughout the process, I was able to work in collaboration with University IT, provide technical support and training to aid library staff in the transition, and produce documentation for use within the libraries. Our success in offering a virtual version of the front-end Ares client led to an exploration of other potential applications of virtualization for library technologies, particularly with respect to integrated library systems. This culminated in a presentation by myself and my manager Anthony Dellureficio at SUNY New Paltz for the Ex Libris Northeast User Group 2016. Show less
