Eltete produces and develops carton-based packaging solutions for logistical purposes. Environmental aspects in our products are valued highly since packages can be re-used or recycled within normal carton recycling process.In my role I am having active on-going discussion with customers regarding their logistical packaging challenges. Solutions to packaging requirements are normally found from our existing product portfolio. Occasionally however new products need to be developed. For this, active internal discussions are needed with production, development and purchasing responsible. Our strength in development projects is our fast and flexible way of proceeding with projects. This is achieved with small team of company’s responsible and their high involvement in projects. Our target is to be recognized as the leading supplier of packaging solutions for logistical purposes. To achieve this, we have identified “the 3 R’s” that describe our solutions: reduce – replace – recycle. Today about 80% of our sales is done with our existing products and 20% is based on new products. An excellent example of our success with new products was seen last year (autumn 2017) when our “BOX SOLUTION” was awarded in Scanstar Packaging Competition.

I managed the package development with Paulig. Together with sales/marketing responsibles I developed several new package solutions for primary, secondary and tertiary packagins. Paulig is the largest coffee producer in Finland with a personnel of ~300 and sales around 300 milj. euros. The package development work required a lot of cooperation with our existing and new suppliers, including setting joint targets and development meetings. To look for new package formats I actively followed up packaging material and packages solutions and searched for new potential suppliers. Inhouse testing of new material and packaging machines also required to develop a testing process. This process was also used to properly inform production, quality, marketing and sales responsible about the status of each new package. I also made sure that used packaging materials were aligned with EU and Russian legislation requirements.

I worked in development projects responsible for testing of recently developed packaging materials. Packaging material production included coating board with plastic and printing, creasing and cutting of it. The most critical area of material testing was to see how new materials were working with packaging machines. I also managed lab tests done on new material to back-up results gain from packaging machine tests. I was also asked to join the innovation team in autumn 2012 to look for new board qualities to be used in our packages. I was involved with alltogether five development projects. These projects were huge multinational cooperation activities where cooperation between departments and scheduled delivery of results was essential. I got lot of experience of project management and running of projects.

I managed new sales development in Nordic area by searching new customers for barrier coatings and primers for paper and board surfaces. Work required lot of customer convincing to sell them the idea using new kind of technique to create a barrier for a food package. In addition to organizing sales meetings, I executed a lot of lab testing to show the efficiency of our products compared to competitors. In two years I created five new active accounts creating app. 0,4M € in annual sales. This required continuous searching for new customers and applications.
