Supported the strategy and operations of one of the top NIH-funded research institutes in the country. Due in large part to competitive advantages realized through emphasizing project management, governance, leadership, training and information technology capabilities, the institute received a full 5-year operating renewal and $64 million of funds from the NIH. Supported the grant application process and served as strategic advisor and project manager for one of the first selected Health Provider Organizations (HPOs) in the National Precision Medicine Initiative (now called The All of Us Research Program). The proposal was the highest scored application and received a $65 million award to develop a comprehensive approach to enroll over 100,000 research participants. It was also selected to be the first to launch nationally. Managed a consortium of National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded research organizations to create a federated network of linked Electronic Health Records (EHRs). The network includes over 100 million patient records that can be queried to provide de-identified, aggregate counts to qualified researchers. Served as a subject matter expert to manage the creation and sharing of a Master Common Reciprocal Institutional Review Board (IRB) Authorization Agreement to cover multi-site human subject research that occurs between member institutions. Created and implemented a custom-designed, 8-part project management training for use in academic clinical research. Served as interim IT Director of a university research institute. Responsibilities included all aspects of planning and managing the release schedule for two custom research applications. Provided short- and long-term program guidance to the IT department of a university research institute. Made recommendations to introduce and modify organizational processes, including change management, stakeholder management, performance management, communication planning, and status reporting.
