Right after becoming a facilitator for a new intake at one of the most prestigious foundation centre, PASUM, I got the opportunity to work at a 'High End' fashion retail store at Suria KLCC as a retail store assistant. Hugo Boss sells apparel such as suits, shirts, ties, shoes, bags, and more. Thus, I was required to have expertise in handling, sorting, storing, and displaying all of those items as best and detailed as I could because my store manager and my colleague take this responsibility seriously and professionally as we might be attending VIPs as the customer. 𝐒𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐢 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧? BE DETAIL ORIENTED There was this one morning where we received 30 CARTONS of new and replenishment stocks for the store. Yes, 30! It is comprised of hundreds of items. For us to store the items, we need to check the code of the items to match our store database and also whether the item is correct or not according to its description. This required us to be very detail-oriented where a small mistake can be a huge problem in the future. Other than that, even though cleaners come every morning to clean the store. I was in charge of maintaining the cleanliness of the store throughout the day. I noticed that even a small smudge of a child's handprint on the mirror can throw off the next customer that tried our apparel. With that, every time there's anything on the mirror I would immediately wipe it off to achieve the best experience for the customer. Besides who doesn't love spotless mirrors? The same goes for the hanging and folded clothes. The distance between the hangers is set to be as equal as possible and the folded clothes will be stacked exactly right on top of each other. I believe the more presentable the clothes are, the better the experience of the customer coming to the store. Show less

While I was waiting for my Bachelor's Degree intake, I went for a door-to-door Job Seek and was lucky to be given the opportunity to work in the F&B industry and become a Barista at Chill-Chill. It was really challenging at first due to the amount of SOPs into making all the various drinks and also food like the Sangkaya bread but thankfully I was able to catch up and make all the drinks without referring to the SOP lists in a week or so. Not only that, but I also learned how the general work in this industry is from opening and closing the cashier counter to keeping the sales in check to the thorough cleaning of the store during opening and closing. The most challenging part of this job is withstanding high pressure from the long lines of thirsty customers during lunch hour. There was this one time my manager had to meet HQ staff for quite a while to receive some stocks due to the sales being so well and I had to handle the store alone during the hectic lunch hour. At first, I was truly shocked by the number of customers that stormed in whilst I'm the only one preparing the food and drinks. I know well I had to keep calm and make the food and drinks as efficient as possible while keeping the customers assured to be patient as it will be worth the wait for them. Thankfully, I managed to serve all the customers what they ordered successfully and what touched me the most was there were a few customers at that time who were very understanding of the situation and even gave me words of encouragement to not make me feel pressured. It was a moment I could not forget as I would embed that characteristic in me when I see a peer or even a stranger in a state of panic or pressure. Show less
