      I am currently on a year's secondment year from Bettys & Taylors, working in rural North Yorkshire as a Business Connector. This follows on from my work within the business demonstrating my passion and ability to think creatively, challenge and engage staff around good environmental practice. The purpose of my secondment is to improve the impact of business in my local community, by drawing on their skills, resources and expertise to further strengthen and enable the voluntary sector and community groups. This sector (sometimes known as the 'third secotor') has been described as the glue that holds society together and I can vouch for that, with their in-exhaustable desire to help those who need support, as I have seen as I have been out and about in North Yorkshire. Businesses too do so much, and am I warmed by their openess to help, in terms of mentoring, volunteering and sharing their resources.
